The history of Ariston and the Company over the years
Ariston has been a household name in the UK for years now, with a particularly strong brand name in the fridge-freezer and boiler market. Ariston boilers are particularly respected for their innovative design and high efficiency, leading to longer lasting products that are better for the enironment.
The Ariston brand and company began in 1960 as a part of the newly split MTS Group (Merloni TermoSanitari SpA). Ariston became one of the leading brands in the UK and Italy, and has gone on to be a worldwide brand.
In February 2005, the company Merloni Elettrodomestici (one of the 3 parts of the MTS Group) was renamed Indesit Company, Indesit being the best known of the Group’s brands outside Italy. The Company was also operating under the brand Ariston, and the regional brands Hotpoint, Scholtes, Servis and Stinol.
Ariston was the Company's "historic" brand, and in 2007, Ariston and Hotpoint were merged to create the Hotpoint-Ariston brand, combining the international flavour of Hotpoint (the outright leader in the UK market) and the style and tradition and technical expertise of the Ariston brand.
